Practice your reading while playing!
Hi once again :)
In order to give you some ideas for your pupils to practice their reading skills, I am going to talk you about one activity I usually carry out in my English classroom, with children from 5 to 7 years old.
It's a sort of a funny "gyncana" in which children have to read a number of notes that will be the clues to find a treasure that is hidden in the classroom. They will practice not only their reading skills but also their listening and speaking ones. I have prepared a sheet with "orders" to be given from one child to another.
First of all, you should make groups or couples of children, and get the classroom prepared before they arrive, hiding the clues and the treasure as well. In my case, the treasure was a homemade-trophy, but feel free to chose what you prefer. There will be the same number of notes than couples or groups, to be handed out. You only have to give them the first one. They will follow the instructions and will start the search.
Here you have a document with notes to be cut and handed out, but you can also modify them and re-write what you want.
